ITV Love Island confirms contestant George Knight has left for 'private reasons' just days into series
George Knight has departed the Love Island villa citing private reasons, merely days after making his entrance as a bombshell contestant on the ITV2 dating programme.
The broadcaster confirmed the 28-year-old's sudden exit on Thursday evening.
"For private reasons, George has left the Love Island villa," an ITV spokesperson stated.
The network emphasised that contestant welfare remains their primary concern and declined to elaborate further on the circumstances surrounding his departure.
"Duty of care for the Islanders is paramount so at this stage any further comment will come from George," a television insider told The Sun.
According to the source, production staff and audiences had been impressed with his contributions to the series during his short time on screen.
The Winchester-based footballer arrived on the programme during Tuesday's broadcast, entering alongside fellow newcomer Yasmin Hadlow, 23.
The pair were immediately handed a covert assignment by producers: they had 24 hours to select two of their fellow islanders for elimination from the competition.

Mr Knight and Ms Hadlow ultimately chose to remove original contestants Samraj Toor and Ellie Chadwick from the villa.
However, viewers subsequently discovered that the dumped pair had not actually been sent home to Britain, instead being given another opportunity to pursue romance on the show.
Prior to his arrival, Mr Knight had spoken about his competitive nature and approach to finding love.
"I don't seek drama but I'm quite naturally competitive," he said, adding that he would "put my best foot forward" if something stood in his way.

Throughout his brief appearance on the programme, Mr Knight wasted little time in pursuing romantic connections with multiple contestants.
He set his sights on quantity surveyor Robyn Langton, 21, making what she described as a "ballsy" move by inviting her to share a bed with him in the hideaway.
Ms Langton, who was already paired with electrician Samuel Workman, 25, considered the proposition before ultimately turning him down.
Mr Knight's romantic interests extended beyond Langton, as he also expressed attraction towards Mica Harris during his time in the villa.

His decision to eliminate Samraj from the competition appeared strategically motivated, removing a rival who had been coupled with Harris.
The islanders also participated in a firepit game of truth or dare, featuring kisses between non-coupled contestants and confrontational questions about who was playing games.
Mr Knight's departure from the villa will not be broadcast to viewers, despite him still featuring in Thursday evening's episode.
The remaining contestants continuing their search for romance include Jasmine, Aidan, Lorenzo, Sam, Samraj, Sean, Yasmin, Ope, Mica, Lola, Angelista, Ellie, and Robyn.
