"textContent": "\n\n\nA furious row erupted on GB News as commentators Tiffany Marie-Brannon and Jonathan Lis clashed over new data on the White British babies in the UK.\n\nThe Late Show Live host Ben Leo was forced to intervene after Mr Lis declared his opponent's argument as “racist trash” and threatened to abandon the debate.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe pair locked horns over new findings from the Office of National Statistics, which found that just 53 per cent of all births were attributed to white mothers.\n\nIt marked a significant decline from 2010, when White British births made up 66 per cent of the total.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nMs Marie-Brannon, a conservative US commentator, described the trend as “not so much demographic change for me as it is an invasion”.\n\nPointing to the huge upswing in migrants from outside Europe since 2021, she said: “These are not countries that share any of our Western values or cultures.\n\n“They are not people who are coming here to necessarily assimilate.”\n\nLooking at the US, Ms Marie-Brannon spoke about the “drastic change” she had seen in her own lifetime.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n“I'm very sick and tired of the entire world, including Europe, becoming homogenised by mass migration\", she said.\n\n“So culturally, you have that. But then you also see the heavy burden of all this mass migration on the taxpayers.\"\n\nMr Lis appeared incredulous throughout his interlocutor’s remarks, beginning with: “I don't know where to begin with what I just heard.\n\n“There's only one word for it, and that's racism. It's racist trash from start to finish.\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * White British births fall to record low as more than 33% of new mothers were born overseas\n * Keir Starmer told to rethink North Sea drilling by ministers - 'Small changes make a difference'\n * Terrorist who plotted to blow up army base with toy bomb set to WALK FREE in just days\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n“I won't reduce myself to the level where I engage with it because it is just so offensive,” he fumed.\n\nThe British commentator pointed to details potentially hidden by the data on having foreign-born parents.\n\nHe continued: “The King would fall into that category because his dad was born in Corfu. Both my parents were born elsewhere.\n\n“I'm sure Tiffany doesn't object to my being British or to my being alive or anything like that.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n“I think I'm as British as anybody else. I'm certainly more British than Tiffany is.\n\n“It doesn't actually matter where you were born, because guess what? When you're born, you become British.\n\n“You grew up in Britain. That becomes your country. I don't understand what the problem is.\n\n“What you're saying is racist, unvarnished tripe,” Mr Lis exclaimed.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nMs Marie-Brannon then shifted the discussion to rates of crime among migrant communities, which led to a further fury.\n\n“I can’t do this. There are certain things we can debate. But when someone's saying racist stuff, I don't know how to debate it except by leaving,” he said.\n\nBen Leo intervened: “All right. See you later. Thanks. You can't just come on and say: ‘it's racist, I can't debate.’”\n\nHis interjection appeared to cool the clash, with Mr Lis continuing the debate.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
