Donald Trump's former Attorney General Pam Bondi has been diagnosed with cancer.

The American attorney is currently undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer after she received her diagnosis last month.

Ms Bondi was diagnosed after she was fired by the US President at the beginning of April.

The 60-year-old is currently receiving treatment, including surgery several weeks ago, the lawyer told CBS.

Despite her diagnosis, Ms Bondi is continuing her work in Washington DC.

As it stands, she is set to join the White House's advisory council on artifical intelligence, the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

An ex-White House adviser, Katie Miller, heaped well wishes onto Ms Bondi and declared that "Pam**** has been quietly kicking cancer's a** the last few weeks".

The podcaster added that she "has a heart of gold".

Although Ms Bondi has not shared what type nor what stage of the disease she has, Cleveland Clinic has said that most forms are treatable and permanently curable.

When the ex-Attorney General was booted out by Mr Trump in April, she said she looked foward to leap into the private sector.

In a previous statement, Vice President JD Vance said: "Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president's team, and I'm thrilled for her and for all of us that she's going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces."
