"textContent": "\n\n\nA 38-year-old man has been jailed for 10 years after raping a teenage girl at his Glasgow flat whilst already facing charges for targeting other children online.\n\nScott Ijomanta carried out the attack on the 14-year-old victim at his Maryhill home in August 2024, having been released on bail for grooming two young girls the previous year.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe High Court in Glasgow found him guilty of abduction, assault and rape, alongside charges of sending sexual communications to a child.\n\nJudge Tom Hughes declared that Ijomanta's offending was \"totally and utterly unacceptable\" and \"could never be tolerated\".\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\nThe convicted rapist refused to stand in the dock as his sentence was handed down.\n\nIjomanta first contacted the victim through Snapchat, where he posed as a 12-year-old boy using the false name Joseph.\n\nDespite the girl disclosing her true age, he continued the deception before eventually providing his address and offering to cover her taxi fare.\n\nOnce the teenager arrived at the property, Ijomanta proceeded to lock the door, trapping her inside.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe court heard that he initially offered the youngster chocolate and alcohol.\n\nHowever, Ijomanta suddenly became enraged, falsely accusing his victim of stealing his mobile phone and glasses before launching the attack.\n\nDuring the terrifying ordeal, Ijomanta told his young victim: \"I am going to rape you. I am sorry for the things that I am going to make you do.\"\n\nThe rapist struck the girl when she begged for mercy and again when she began weeping, placing his hand over her mouth to stifle her cries whilst also grabbing her throat.\n\n### CRIME - READ THE LATEST:\n\n\n\n\n * Bulgarian national, 17, charged after man in his 60s was stabbed\n * Sikh man on trial for the murder of a student tells court he acted in self-defence\n * Six men jailed for grooming and sexually abusing a teenage girl\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe court heard how the 38-year-old told the victim he could see she was \"terrified\" during the ordeal, adding that it just \"makes me want to kill you\".\n\nIjomanta attempted to justify his actions by asking why she would visit his home if she had not anticipated such an outcome.\n\nHe also fabricated a story about having cancer, tell the girl he had little time left to live.\n\nThe predator issued threats against her school and parents before the badly hurt teenager finally managed to flee the property.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe court was informed that Ijomanta had previously targeted two other youngsters in 2023, contacting a 12-year-old girl via Snapchat and TikTok whilst using the alias \"Hunter\".\n\nHe made inappropriate demands for photos and videos from the child and her 13-year-old friend, subsequently purchasing train tickets to bring the pair from England to Glasgow.\n\nFortunately, police intercepted the girls after they were reported missing, preventing them from boarding the train.\n\nThroughout his trial, Ijomanta maintained his innocence, claiming he had been deceived about the ages of all his victims.\n\nUpon release, he will face four years of monitoring and has been placed on the offenders register indefinitely, with a permanent ban on approaching any of his victims.\n\nAfter the 38-year-old was sentenced, Detective Constable Joe Gear said: \"I want to thank the girls who assisted our investigation, their support was instrumental in bringing him to justice.\n\n\"Ijomanta's actions were deeply reprehensible, and he will now face the consequences.\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
