Flat, dull or greasy hair? You could be making 'very basic' washing error that causes hair loss
Do you feel like you are having more bad hair days than good? You might not need a trip to the salon, but rather, to look at how you wash your locks.
Rushing through hair wash day could mean failing to remove dirt and products properly, ultimately leading to a greasy and lifeless barnet.
CEO of leading skin and hair specialists, Este Medical Group, Sam Cinkir, said: “Hair plays a huge role in our appearance for many of us, and a good hair day can really put a spring in your step.
“However, not everyone knows how best to care for their locks, and this can create a range of problems, from greasy or dry hair to visible dandruff and split ends."

Split ends can thin the hair's appearance and make more regular trips to the salon necessary. It may sound simple, but rinsing your mane properly will get rid of lingering product and dirt that stop your hair from looking its best.
Cinkir continued: “One very common and very basic mistake I see people make is failing to rinse their hair properly, and this can have a surprisingly big effect.
“If you’re not getting rid of built-up dirt and grime and leftover hair products when you wash your hair, it can lead to damage and irritation, as well as risking infection and even hair loss.
“It’s such a simple error that people make, maybe because they’re in a rush or because they don’t pay enough attention to washing their hair.”

Of course, this is not something people do on purpose, but not giving yourself enough time to properly cleanse your scalp could be the reason your hair looks lacklustre or that you notice some hair start to fall out.
Cinkir shared his top recommendations for doing this correctly - " make sure you are rinsing properly, split it in half and tackle it slowly, making sure not to miss anywhere".
He added: “Two minutes is likely to be enough, but keep going if you don’t think it’s clean enough yet.
“It's also important to use lukewarm rather than hot water, as it dries the scalp and can weaken the roots. It can also make the strands more brittle and porous, leading to damage and loss.”
Maintaining your hair properly, paired with getting the right haircut and colour, can visually take years off your appearance and boost confidence.
Hair with a healthy shine in a style that frames the face will be the most flattering. An expert warned against the hair blunders that highlight loose skin and jowls.
Instead, opt for cuts and layers that draw attention to the right places. This means styles that use length, layers and angles to accentuate their cheekbones and jawlines.
Think cheekbone-length bobs, sweeping curtain bangs, long face-framing layers or even a pixie cut.
