Explosion rocks British seaside neighborhood as Britons told to 'avoid the area'

Upwards of 50 homes and businesses have been evacuated following reports of an explosion at a home in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services are currently at the scene in Cambridge Street, Scarborough having established a cordon around a property.

The incident took place at around 5.45am this morning, where between 50 to 70 homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity of the explosion have since been evacuated.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are working alongside the ambulance service, police and the gas board, at the scene.
