"textContent": "\n\n\nThere were 15 Labour MPs who rebelled against Sir Keir Starmer and voted in favour of launching an investigation into whether he misled Parliament.\n\nMPs voted 223 to 335 against referring the Prime Minister to the Privileges Committee, over the appointment of the now-disgraced Lord Mandelson as UK's ambassador to the US.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n**Fifteen of those in favour came from Sir Keir's own party, who are as follows:**\n\n 1. Apsana Begum - Poplar and Limehouse\n 2. Richard Burgon - Leeds East\n 3. Ian Bryne - Liverpool West Derby\n 4. Mary Kelly Foy - City of Durham\n 5. Imran Hussain - Bradford East\n 6. Brian Leishman - Alloa and Grangemouth\n 7. Emma Lewell - South Shields\n 8. Rebecca Long Bailey - Salford\n 9. Andy McDonald - Middlesborough and Thornaby East\n 10. John McDonnell - Hayes and Harlington\n 11. Graham Morris - Easington\n 12. Luke Myer - Middlesborough South and East Cleveland\n 13. Kate Osbourne - Jarrow and Gateshead East\n 14. Cat Smith - Lancaster and Wyre\n 15. Nadia Whittome - Nottingham East\n\n\n\nLabour MP Jonathan Brash also released a statement saying he would of voted in favour of the motion today, but was otherwise engaged.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe MP for Hartlepool called the use of the whip on MPs for today's vote was \"unfair\" on politicians, describing it as a \"serious misjudgement\".\n\nHe said: \"I feel compelled to set out my position on this evening's vote. To whip colleagues on a matter of this nature is, in my view, a serious misjudgement and deeply unfair on them.\n\n\"Regardless of the motives of the opposition parties, the sensible course would have been for the Prime Minister to refer himself to the Privileges Committee.\"\n\nHe concluded that he, therefore, stands with other Labour MP who voted in favour of the sleaze probe.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nBell Ribeiro-Addy, Labour MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill also weighed in, saying she would be \"voting for the motion\" if she'd been in Parliament today, concluding Sir Keir should be referring himself to the Privileges Committee to \"save us all the drama\".\n\nShe said on X: \"I am not in Parliament for today's vote on referring Keir Starmer. If I was, I would be voting for the motion.\n\n\"Transparency is a cornerstone of our democracy.\n\n\"The best thing for the PM to do would be to simply refer himself on this matter and save us all the drama.\"\n\n**_MORE TO FOLLOW..._**\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * Keir Starmer DODGES investigation over appointment of Lord Mandelson\n * WATCH: MPs vote to block sleaze probe into Keir Starmer\n * Labour rules out rent freeze after Rachel Reeves's comments spark market turmoil\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
