"textContent": "\n\n\n\nBruno Fernandes showed his modest side on Saturday night after helping Manchester United beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.\n\nThe Red Devils secured all three points through Matheus Cunha, with the Brazil international's effort in the 43rd minute enough to secure victory.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nCunha's finish came after some brilliant work from Fernandes, with the Portugal international providing his 18th assist of the league campaign.\n\nShould he get two more, he'll emulate Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne by setting up 20 goals in a single campaign.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\nGiven his obvious quality, Fernandes could be forgiven for wanting all the spotlight. However, when quizzed on his exploits after the game, the 31-year-old remained modest by stressing that he always strives for perfection.\n\n\"It’s an amazing feeling. We had to bounce back. It’s not just about Leeds, we had two games that we didn’t win, so we knew we had to put in a great performance because Chelsea is a very good side,\" said the United captain.\n\n\"It was very important for us because we know our aim is to get to the top four. They [Chelsea] are the closest ones there, so making that distance is perfect for us, and that’s what we need.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\"I always want to do better than the season before. I want to improve my overall game, not just assists or goals, but everything I’m involved in.\"\n\nBefore the match, United were depleted.\n\nThere was no Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt with the trio all missing out through injury.\n\n### LATEST SPORTS NEWS:\n\n\n\n\n * Harry Winks clashes with fans after Leicester suffer fresh relegation blow with Portsmouth defeat\n * Rory McIlroy avoids huge fine just days after Masters win due to rule change\n * Les Ferdinand appalled by Tottenham star's behaviour during dramatic Brighton draw\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nLisandro Martinez was also unavailable, having been sent off in Monday night's disastrous 1-0 defeat to Leeds at Old Trafford.\n\nBut Fernandes was delighted with how United overcame those absences to clinch victory.\n\nDiscussing supporters, he added: \"They were amazing. Already in the warm-up, I felt they were on it. Every away ground we go, we feel at home, and today was no different.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\"Great performance from everyone. The back line did a great job; some players out of position, but they were really strong in the duels. It was a big team effort.\n\n\"I feel three points closer [to qualifying for the Champions League]. That’s it.\n\n\"We know we need more points and we’ll do everything possible to get it done as quickly as we can.\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nUnited, just months ago, were enduring a wretched campaign.\n\nBut they're now on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since the 2022/23 season, back when Erik ten Hag was in charge.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nAs for Chelsea, their hopes of playing in that tournament are hanging by a thread.\n\nHaving lost four in a row, another setback against Brighton this Tuesday could prove to be the final straw for the Blues hierarchy, with manager Liam Rosenior feeling the heat.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
