"textContent": "\n\n\nPetrol and diesel drivers continue to plead with the Government to axe the planned fuel duty hike to minimise the impact of rising prices at the pumps.\n\nThe latest data from RAC Fuel Watch shows that drivers are being hit with costs of 154.45p for a litre of petrol and a staggering 185.23p for diesel, with the service estimating that prices will continue to rise.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nCosts at the pump are expected to jump further, especially following US President Donald Trump's social media post, confirming that Tuesday (April 7) would be \"Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran\".\n\nThe escalation comes after the United States rescued an American soldier after an F-15 fighter jet was downed in Iran, with President Trump threatening retaliatory measures if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe Strait of Hormuz has become a key chokepoint in the war, with only a handful of ships able to pass through its waters over the last month, severely affecting global oil prices.\n\nDrivers and motoring organisations across the UK have continually called on the Government to scrap the planned cut to the rate of fuel duty to provide temporary relief at the pumps.\n\nUnder current plans, the 5p per litre fuel duty cut, which was introduced after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, will be rolled back over three phases, namely by 1p in September, 2p in December and a further 2p in March 2026.\n\nRichard Smith, managing director of the Road Haulage Association, emphasised the scale of the fuel price crisis, describing it as a \"national concern\", and not just an industry issue.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nHe said: \"The Prime Minister said last week that he’s keeping the fuel duty increase under review. We've moved far beyond the review stage - our essential industry needs action now from Government on fuel.\n\n\"We're clear: Scrap the fuel duty hike, back essential users with a targeted rebate, and, publish a clear contingency plan for fuel supply.\n\n\"Without a credible Government contingency plan in place, disruption to the affordability, resilience, or availability of fuel will impact businesses and communities across the country.\"\n\nGB News has rounded up the most expensive petrol and diesel prices from across the UK over the bank holiday weekend using data from the Government's Fuel Finder tool.\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * Driving licence changes launching soon may cause chaos as motorists are 'nowhere near ready'\n * Blue Badge update could see crackdown on millions of drivers to prevent parking fraud\n * Labour urged to scrap Motability changes as thousands face new laws and costs\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n### Most expensive petrol prices\n\nThorn House Filling Station, Penrith, Cumbria (CA10 1BL) - 199.9p\n\nFerrybridge Service Area, Knottingly, West Yorkshire (WF11 0AF) - 184.9p\n\nLeigh Delamere Service Area, Chippenham, Wiltshire (SN14 6LB) - 184.9p\n\nSevern View Service Area, Bristol, Gloucestershire (BS35 4BH) - 184.9p\n\nToddington Service Area, Toddington, Bedfordshire (LU5 6HR) - 184.9p\n\nBurton Service Area, Carnforth, Cumbria (LA6 1JF) - 184.9p\n\nBarton Park Service Area, Richmond, North Yorkshire (DL10 6NA) - 184.9p\n\nSouthwaite Service Area, Carlisle, Cumbria (CA4 0NT) - 184.9p\n\nTrowell Service Area, Ilkeston, Nottinghamshire (NG9 3PL) - 184.9p\n\nLymm BP Service Area, Lymm, Cheshire (WA13 0SP) - 184.9p\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n### Most expensive diesel prices\n\nRacetrack Crowwood, Chryston, Glasgow (G69 9AD) - 209.9p\n\nShell Forfar, Forfar, Angus (DD8 1BF) - 209.9p\n\nShell Thieves Lane, Shrewsbury, Shropshire (SY2 6GF) - 209.9p\n\nRacetrack Rutherglen, Rutherglen, Glasgow (G73 3AA) - 205.9p\n\nRacetrack Autoport, Bellahouston, Glasgow (G51 1RP) - 205.9p\n\nRacetrack Bridgeton, Bridgeton, Glasgow (G40 3SA) - 205.9p\n\nRacetrack Braeside Services, Chryston, Glasgow (G69 9NB) - 205.9p\n\nPort Ellen Filling Station, Port Ellen, Isle of Islay (PA42 7DF) - 203p\n\nD D Evans and Sons Ltd, Service Garage, Lampeter, Ceredigion (SA48 7JA) - 202.9p\n\nAchiltibuie Stores, Ullapool, Highlands (IV26 2YG) - 201.9p\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
