  "textContent": "\n\n\nDame Kristin Scott Thomas has delved into her working relationship with the late singer Prince, revealing a sweet gesture she once received from him along the way.\n\nMs Thomas is known for her roles in films such as Confessions of a Shopaholic, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Tomb Raider, Mission Impossible, and Keeping Mum.\n\nShe was also cast to be the lead in Under the Cherry Moon, which was being directed by Prince.\n\nMs Thomas discussed playing the lead in the film with Jonathan Ross on his self-titled talk show, where she explained: “I had been doing a play in a field in Burgundy and got a call from a casting agent.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n“They said, ‘Prince is making a film in France and he wants local actresses to play the bit parts.’\n\n“When I was doing the audition, there was a kerfuffle behind the camera and they said, ‘Would you like to audition for the lead?’ You just can’t believe that question when that happens.\n\n“The lead in a film with Prince… I did it and I got the job and it was just incredible. He wasn’t directing in the beginning and then he took over.”\n\nMs Thomas admitted it was a “horrible flop” before revealing that years later, Prince watched her being interviewed on TV and invited her to dinner.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n“The thing I liked most about that… is Prince, the king of cool, watching morning television in his hotel room.”\n\nAfter spending time together, the Purple Rain singer went on to rent a whole row at one of her plays and even wrote a song about her.\n\nMs Thomas saidof the gesture: “The next day he said, ‘I’ve written a song for you.’ It’s lovely and it makes my heart swell. [We were] in this state of grace, really extraordinary.”\n\nWhilst still acting, Ms Thomas now directs and co-writes, and explained that it was “new territory” for her.\n\n“It’s absolutely a first.
