Donald Trump ‘very angry’ as he considers sacking more ‘underperforming’ Cabinet members

Donald Trump is reportedly weighing further Cabinet sackings after growing “very angry” with underperforming officials.

The US President is said to be dissatisfied with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

One administration source telling Politico: “He's very angry and he's going to be moving people.”

The unrest follows the removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this week.

The Atlantic has also suggested FBI Director Kash Patel and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll could face the axe.

However, sources stressed no final decisions have been made.

Mr Lutnick was described as being on “thin ice”, with his potential dismissal seen as a move to address economic concerns.

But another source pushed back, insisting: “Everyone is thrilled with the job Howard has done.”

The White House also publicly backed key officials.

“President Trump has the most talented cabinet and team in American history,” a spokesman said.

“Patriots like Kash Patel, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and Dan Driscoll are tirelessly implementing the President's agenda and achieving tremendous results for the American people.”

The administration added that both Ms Chavez-DeRemer and Mr Lutnick retain the President’s full support.

The speculation comes amid a wider shake-up inside the US military.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has removed several senior Army figures, including General Randy George, the service’s most senior officer.

The Pentagon confirmed further dismissals of General David Hodne and Major General William Green Jr.

A Pentagon official said of General George: “We are grateful for his service, but it was time for a leadership change in the Army.”

General Christopher LaNeve will take over as acting chief of staff, with Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell describing him as “a battle-tested leader” trusted to deliver the administration’s vision.

Tensions have also allegedly grown between Mr Hegseth and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, with one report suggesting the War Secretary intends to “make his life hell”.

The military overhaul comes as around 50,000 US troops remain stationed in the Middle East amid preparations for a potential ground operation in Iran.

Mr Hegseth has now removed more than a dozen senior military figures, including Joint Chiefs Chairman General C.Q. Brown and Admiral Lisa Franchetti.
