The sheriff's office is investigating the incident, and the details surrounding the crash are currently unknown.

Woods was involved in a similar car crash five years ago, which seriously damaged his right leg after he was trapped under the vehicle.

The condition of the 50-year-old is currently unclear.

The incident comes days after Woods made a highly anticipated return to golf during an event on Tuesday.

The golfing world has been reacting with coverage of the Texas Children's Houston Open being interrupted to share the news.

Woods has been deciding whether to compete in the upcoming Masters tournament next month at Augusta National, Georgia.

The five-time winner of the competition underwent a seventh back surgery last October.

He said that despite his return to golf, he has days when he struggles to get around.

Woods said: "Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disc replacement is not a lot of fun.

"I've had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn't quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn't quite bounce back.

"So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it's hard to just to move around."

President Donald Trump claimed that Woods will miss next month's Masters tournament, though the 79-year-old declined to disclose how he obtained this information.

Speaking to Fox News programme The Five on Thursday, Trump stated: "I love Tiger, but he won't be there. He'll be there, but he won't be playing in it."

The claim carries an intriguing personal dimension, given that the 15-time major champion is currently in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, the former wife of the president's eldest son, Donald Jr.

Woods has indicated he remains hopeful of competing, stating he is "trying" to participate despite ongoing physical challenges.

He explained: "I've been trying. It's just this body doesn't recover like when I was 24, 25. It doesn't mean I'm not trying - I've been trying for a while."
