"textContent": "\n\n\nA transgender Metropolitan Police special constable who groomed and raped a 12-year-old girl has been sentenced to 24 years behind bars at Aylesbury Crown Court.\n\nGwyn Samuels, 27, previously known as James Bubb, was convicted last year of raping a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and assault by penetration.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe jury also found Samuels guilty of raping an 18-year-old woman after pretending to be a 16-year-old girl.\n\nHis Honour Judge Jonathan Cooper ordered that Samuels must serve at least 16 years before becoming eligible for parole, with an additional eight years on licence, during which recall to prison remains possible.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nDespite identifying as a woman, Samuels will be held in a male prison under current Government policy.\n\nThe court heard that Samuels first encountered the young victim on the chat roulette website Omegle in 2018, subsequently meeting her in person at a Christian festival several months later.\n\nShortly before the girl's 13th birthday, the volunteer officer sexually assaulted her in a public setting while he was in his early twenties.\n\nSamuels subjected the child to violence during the abuse, with the victim telling police that he choked and punched her.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe young girl later reported that Samuels would intimidate her into silence by referencing \"the powers he had\" through his role with the Metropolitan Police.\n\nShe told the court that the defendant would \"frequently bring up\" his position as a police officer to justify \"why he had the right to induce fear over me and to overstep my boundaries\".\n\nJudge Cooper characterised the sexual predator as demonstrating \"inherent brutality\" and noted a complete absence of remorse, with Samuels viewing themselves as the victim of false accusations.\n\nAddressing the defendant directly, the judge stated: \"You abused the most intimate trust of each of your victims.\n\n### LATEST CRIME STORIES\n\n\n\n\n * 'Iranian spy' arrested after trying to break into British nuclear base\n * Police swarm Manchester park after man seen wearing 'suicide vest' but reality is not what it seems\n * Two police officers in critical condition after car crash also leaves member of public injured\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe victims described Samuels as a \"highly manipulative, narcissistic, grandiose and extremely dangerous individual\".\n\nThe first victim, now 20, told the court: \"I vividly remember being 12, already traumatised, already feeling that there was no real way out.\n\n\"No child should ever be made to feel that way, let alone by a police officer, an adult, a trusted person.\"\n\nThe offences occurred between January 2018 and April 2024, a period during which Samuels was employed as a technician working on productions at the prestigious Harrow School, whose former pupils include Sir Winston Churchill and six other former Prime Ministers.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nPolice stated there was no evidence to suggest any offending took place at the school.\n\nSamuels joined the Metropolitan Police Central West team as a volunteer special constable in September 2020 – immediately suspended following arrest by Thames Valley Police on April 30, 2024.\n\nAfter conviction, Samuels was dismissed without notice on September 26 last year and added to the College of Policing barred list.\n\nThames Valley Police Detective Sergeant Catriona Cameron described the 27-year-old's conduct as \"absolutely\" a breach of trust and indicated there may be additional victims.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nShe explained that while the investigation found no evidence Samuels used the police role to identify victims, the defendant did exploit their position as a special constable to intimidate and employed officer safety techniques and restraint during the offending.\n\nHarrow School confirmed it terminated Samuels' contract immediately upon learning of the investigation, stating: \"The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is always our highest priority.\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
