"textContent": "\n\n\nArmed police in Manchester swarmed to a park after a man was seen wearing a \"suicide vest\".\n\nHowever, it turned out the man - who must of been a bit shocked by the situation - was merely wearing a weighted vest whilst exercising in the park.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nGB News has spoken to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) who have confirmed the man posed no threat and officers have stood down.\n\nIt is believed the incident happened in Mandley Park in Salford, north Manchester.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nA GMP spokesman told the Manchester Evening News: \"We received a report of a suspicious male on Bristol Street, Salford, at around 11:52am today.\n\n\"Officers attended and quickly established that the individual was wearing a weighted gym vest and carrying a skipping rope while exercising at an outdoor gym.\n\n\"This was a false alarm and there is no threat to the wider community.\"\n\nFootage seen by the People's Channel shows several police snipers covering behind trees, whilst the man lies on the ground in an exercise park.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe man, with his hands on his head, is seen to be wearing a black padded vest, over a grey t-shirt and shorts.\n\nEyewitnesses described an enormous police presence in the Higher Broughton area, as well as a helicopter flying overhead.\n\nThere is a large Jewish community in the area surrounding Mandley Park.\n\nThe Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that protects British Jews from terrorism and antiterrorism, took to social media to address the incident.\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * Three IRA bomb victims drop High Court claim against Gerry Adams\n * 'Iranian spy' arrested after trying to break into British nuclear base\n * Two police officers in critical condition after car crash also leaves member of public injured\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThey wrote on X: \"The incident in Mandley Park has now been resolved.\n\n\"Police have confirmed there is no wider risk to the public.\"\n\nThey continued by thanking GMP for swiftly responding \"to what appears to have been a false alarm\".\n\nAn eyewitness described the man who was at the focus on the incident as \"calm\".\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThey said: \"He didn't protest. He was very calm, very quiet.\n\n\"He just laid there, rolled onto his back and police took him away.
