The incident occurred outside Thorpe St Andrew School, just outside the city centre, where students have reportedly been placed under lockdown conditions.

A Norfolk Police spokesperson said officers were called at about 10.24am, with Laundry Lane closed and a police cordon put in place.

A police spokesperson said: "This incident is not believed to be linked to a hate crime reported at the same school last week".

According to reports, multiple police cars and ambulances were seen outside the school, with parents gathering outside the gates.

Parents commenting on a Norfolk Police post on Facebook say parents have had limited information from the school amid the incident, and are concerned for the safety of their children.

Broad Horizons Education Trust, which runs the school, has told reporters it is unable to comment further at this stage.
