Spain’s cheapest coastline is in a lesser-known region with clear waters and 150 miles of beaches

With many British holidaymakers watching travel budgets, new research has revealed the most affordable Spanish coastlines, and choosing the right stretch of coast could save travellers more than £200 per person.

The analysis compared holiday booking data across Spain’s most popular mainland coastal regions, finding that average prices range from £457 to £662 per person.

Topping TravelSupermarket's list is Costa Cálida, where holidays average £457 per person. Known as the “Warm Coast”, the region stretches along the southeastern area of Murcia and offers more than 150 miles of beaches, clear waters and the distinctive Mar Menor — Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon.

Despite its scenery and sunshine, the coastline remains quieter and less visited than some of Spain’s better-known resorts, helping keep prices lower for travellers looking for a more relaxed beach escape.

In second place is Costa Brava at an average of £471 per person, followed by Costa Dorada in third at £538.

While some of Spain’s most famous holiday regions still feature on the list, there is a spread of more than £200 between the cheapest and most expensive coastlines.

Commenting on the findings, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, Chris Webber, said: “Spain remains one of the most reliable destinations for British holidaymakers seeking value, and with budgets still under pressure, it pays to be a little flexible about where you go.

"Costa Cálida in particular stands out - it consistently delivers on beaches, weather and facilities, but tends to fly under the radar compared to the likes of Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca, and that is reflected in the price.”

This comes as travel experts shared more inspiration for cheap holidays across Europe, including in Spain.

The easiest European destinations to pair for a multi-city getaway this year were shared, with travel pros recommending visiting both Barcelona and Madrid on your next Spanish holiday.

The cities are well connected by Spain's high-speed rail, and flights start from as little as £17 from the UK, according to recent data.
