"textContent": "\n\n\nGB News host Martin Daubney has clashed with a Labour MP in a tense exchange over the Iran war, demanding him to \"get on the phone\" to his \"boss\" Sir Keir Starmer.\n\nAppearing on the People's Channel, Alex McIntyre assured viewers that the Prime Minister has put \"the interests of the British people first\".\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nChallenging Mr McIntyre, Martin pushed back on his assurance: \"Do you agree, it's an international embarrassment to learn that HMS Prince of Wales isn't currently heading towards the Mediterranean, it isn't currently heading towards the Gulf.\n\n\"It's heading north on a training exercise. This is Dad's Army, it's embarrassing!\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nMr McIntyre responded: \"Throughout this crisis, Keir Starmer has made sure that he has put the interests of the British people first, learning the lessons from the Iraq war so that we don't head headfirst into an offensive action that none of your viewers want to see us in, and actually making sure that we're protecting British people and British interests in the region.\"\n\nUnsatisfied with the Labour MP's statement, Martin declared that the \"buck stops with the Government\", urging Mr McIntyre to \"get your boss on the phone\".\n\nHe told the representative for Gloucester: \"They should do a U-turn, your boss is quite good at them, and get this where it belongs off the coast of Cyprus, fighting where it's needed.\n\n\"This is a strategic error, and the buck has to stop I'm afraid with the Labour Government - you could get on the phone now and tell him to turn around, let's get to the Med.\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nDefending Sir Keir further, the Labour MP told GB News: \"Look, I'm not a military person. I've not been in the chain of command in our armed forces.\n\n\"What I do know is that they are constantly keeping across the situation and as the situation changes, they'll make the appropriate decisions.\"\n\nHighlighting another UK vessel which is yet to be deployed to Cyprus, Martin argued that the delay in assigning HMS Dragon to the Cyprus RAF base Akrotiri has made the UK a \"laughing stock\" on the world stage.\n\nDisagreeing with Martin, Mr McIntyre said: \"I don't think so at all, and I think actually most of your viewers and polling has shown over the weekend, most of your viewers will agree with the approach the Government has taken to the Iran crisis so far.\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * Mel Stride blasts Rachel Reeves for ‘gross mismanagement’ as Chancellor issues inflation warning\n * Sadiq Khan torn apart for refusing to hold London grooming gangs inquiry: 'Complete denial!'\n * Rachel Reeves: US-Iran war will 'put upward pressure' on inflation as energy bill fears grow\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\"Nobody wanted us to go headfirst into offensive action in Iran.\"\n\nInterjecting the Labour MP, Martin swiped that there has been \"no offensive action\" from Labour as the UK vessels are still \"moored off of the coast\".\n\nMr McIntyre then hit back: \"We have sent and deployed resources. We've got typhoon jets, we've got our F-35 jets, we've got anti-missile technology, we've got anti-drone helicopters.\"\n\nInterrupting the Labour MP again, Martin highlighted: \"None of that stopped the Cyprus airbase being bombarded, and now the French have swept in to save the day?\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nMr McIntyre disagreed, arguing: \"We've actually interrupted a number of different attacks. We are flying regular missions with our allies in the region to protect airspace. We are doing an awful lot, and Nato allies are also contributing to that effort.\n\n\"What the Prime Minister set out at the weekend was really clear that we were going to, for example, allow the US to use air bases on UK soil to conduct defensive operations. That would take out the capability of the Iranians to attack our bases.\"\n\nHe concluded: \"We've got a number of assets out in the region, including the F-35s and the typhoons that are protecting our bases as we currently speak.\n\n\"I think it's incumbent upon us to make sure that where we take offensive action, there's a legal basis, there is a plan in place to make sure that we are achieving the aims of the operation and that we are acting in the British national interest first. And that's what this Prime Minister is doing.\"\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards:The GB News Editorial Charter **",
