Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have hit the red carpet for the Baftas just days after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest.

The royal couple suited up for the show at the Royal Festival Hall in London for the annual film awards this afternoon.

It is the first public appearance as a couple since the former Duke of York's arrest over suspicions of misconduct in public office.

The Princess of Wales has not attended the Baftas for the last three years due to her cancer diagnosis and treatment, which followed.

Several stars from across the globe made their way to London's Southbank Centre for what is billed each year as British cinema's most glamorous evening of the year.

William and Catherine did not disappoint, arriving in matching outfits, with the future king wearing a maroon jacket and black bow tie.

The Princess of Wales dazzled in a pink and white Gucci gown, which had previously been seen in 2019 at the V&A Museum for a gala dinner.

Several stars are attending the event, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothee Chalamet.

Other celebrities at the awards tonight include Emma Stone and Kate Hudson, who were part of the series of Hollywood A-Listers.

One Battle After Another is leading the way with nominations, up for 14 awards this evening.

Hamnet has broken the record for the most nominations for a female-directed film in BAFTA history, with 11.

The awards are being hosted by Scottish actor and director, Alan Cumming.

The royal's outing comes just a few days after William's uncle, Andrew, was arrested, with King Charles having to issue a statement after hearing about the news.

His majesty wrote: "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.

"What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course."

The Prince and Princess of Wales are understood to support the King's statement.

Searches have continued at Andrew's previous home, Royal Lodge, over the weekend after conclusions at Wood Farm, where the former duke currently resides.

Andrew spent 11 hours in police custody on Thursday, being pictured leaving Aylsham Police Station.

The former prince became the first senior royal in modern history to be arrested, and is accused of sharing sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK's trade envoy.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing over his Epstein links, but has not directly responded to the latest allegations.
