  "textContent": "\n\n\nThe police watchdog is investigating allegations of harassment, trolling and a threat against a Rotherham grooming gang victim.\n\nThe Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched two separate investigations relating to South Yorkshire Police last year, GB News can disclose.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe investigations are assessing if South Yorkshire Police was involved in online harassment, stalking and leaking personal information about the victim.\n\nThe IOPC is also investigating an alleged threat made against the survivor by phone in 2019.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\nThe woman, known as Elizabeth, was abused in a den in Rotherham in the 2000s when she was a teenager.\n\nOnly one man was jailed in 2018 after the National Crime Agency investigated his part in the rapes that she endured.\n\nLast year, GB News revealed that the NCA was now investigating if South Yorkshire Police officers were also involved in her abuse.\n\nThe IOPC-directed investigation was passed to the NCA after concerns were raised by several survivors that SYP would be investigating its own personnel.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nGB News has seen social media posts relating to the alleged harassment, which includes highly personal information about Elizabeth that she said put her security at risk.\n\nThis separate and more recent set of investigations can be revealed today after Reform UK MP Suella Braverman raised Elizabeth’s situation in the House of Commons this week.\n\nAn IOPC spokesman said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the brave victim-survivors of abuse who have come forward. It is important their concerns are listened to and appropriate action taken to address them.\n\n“We are investigating complaints made by a woman relating to the treatment she received from South Yorkshire Police (SYP) in the years after she reported being a victim of child sexual abuse. This will remain under review throughout.”\n\nElizabeth told GB News that she was frustrated that one serving officer she had named in the course of the investigation had not been suspended while the probe continues.\n\n“When police officers are not suspended and allegations are not taken seriously, it sends a dangerous message that accountability is optional, “ she said.\n\n“I am still waiting for this officer to be suspended on serious allegations. This is a risk to the public.”\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nFor SYP to suspend an officer, the IOPC would have to identify and record misconduct against a specific officer.\n\nThe IOPC said that no conduct matters have been identified for any named individuals at this stage of the investigation but that this remains under review.\n\nSouth Yorkshire Police said in a statement: “We are aware of the allegations and continue to support the IOPC investigation.\n\n“Should their assessment indicate that an officer has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour which amount to misconduct or gross misconduct, we will take necessary and proportionate steps in line with the Police Conduct Regulations 2020.”\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards:The GB News Editorial Charter **",
