The simple way to describe him would be \"the French Charlie Chaplin\" - but that would be too simple and perhaps even an injustice to both men. I remember the first time I heard about 'Holiday' - and the frustrating search I began to locate a copy. Finally I found a little niche video store that had an old VHS copy, that I was able to rent. This is truly an amazing film that, regrettably, has been almost forgotten. To viewers today, it may seem slow - or lack any slapstick moments. But the beauty is in the simple charm of the characters that Tati weaves together. As Roger Ebert says,\"It is not a comedy of hilarity but a comedy of memory, nostalgia, fondness and good cheer.\""
