The invention relates to a climate control system () for conditioning the air of a motor vehicle passenger compartment. The climate control system (), developed for operation in chiller mode, in heat pump mode as well as in reheat mode, comprises a climate control unit () with a housing () with a first flow channel () and a second flow channel () for conducting air, a refrigerant circulation () as well as a first coolant circulation () and a second coolant circulation (). The refrigerant circulation () is implemented with a refrigerant-air heat exchanger (), operable as evaporator independently of the operating mode, which refrigerant-air heat exchanger () is disposed within the housing () of the climate control unit (), as well as with a first refrigerant-coolant heat exchanger (), operable as condenser/gas cooler independently of the operating mode, and a second refrigerant-coolant heat exchanger (), operable as evaporator independently of the operating mode, which are disposed outside of the housing () of the climate control unit (). The first coolant circulation () comprises the second refrigerant-coolant heat exchanger () and heat exchangers for conditioning components of a power train () as well as a battery heat exchanger (), while the second coolant circulation () is implemented with the first refrigerant-coolant heat exchanger () as well as with a heating heat exchanger () disposed within the housing () of the climate control unit (). The invention relates furthermore to a method for operating the climate control system ().
