An assist device (110, 250, 350, 410) applies force to bias the arm support element from a first position toward a second position higher than the first position. The base, the arm support element, the first arm, and the second arm operate together as a 4-bar linkage system. Upon actuation of a user-actuatable release device (106, 206, 306, 406), the arm support element can be moved from the first position to the second position with force assistance from the assist device.",
