The invention relates to a suspension device for a vehicle (300), in particular for a rail vehicle or rail-road vehicle, comprising: - a chamber (102), - a piston (104), said main piston, intended to be fixed to a railway axle (200) of said vehicle (300) and free to translate; - a piston (106), said locking piston, free to translate in said chamber (102); and - a means (114) of elastic damping disposed between said main piston (104) and said locking piston (106); said device (100) further comprising a means (116) for locking or not locking said locking piston (106) in at least one position in said chamber (102), so as to modify the available stroke for said main piston (104). It also relates to a railway axle and a railway vehicle comprising such a device (100).
