LIGHTING DEVICE AND METHOD OF ILLUMINATING A PASSENGER CABIN CEILING OF A VEHICLE

The invention relates to a lighting device (12) for illuminating a passenger cabin ceiling (8) of a vehicle (2), having a light source (14) for generating light rays and a holding device (18) for the light source (14). In order to achieve improved illumination of the passenger cabin ceiling (8), it is proposed that the lighting device (12) has a deflection means (30) which is configured to deflect at least a portion of the light rays generated by the light source (14) through diffuse reflection.
