To facilitate boarding and alighting of persons with mobility impairments into and out of public transport vehicles, devices with retractable and extendable ramps (16) are used in the door area. After the ramp (16) has been extended, a transverse edge (24) of the same pointing towards the vehicle must be brought to the level of the floor surface (14) of the vehicle. This is referred to as so-called floor edge adjustment. It must be ensured that the ramp (16) is not used during its use, in particular before floor edge adjustment has been completed and when reversing the same. For the stated purpose, the invention provides for arranging at least one elastically deformable, comb-like support strip (49) under the ramp (16), which serves as an enclosure for a sensor strip (63) for switching off the extension and retraction movement of the ramp (16) when the ramp is loaded.
