FOLDING DEVICE FOR AN EXTERNAL MIRROR

A folding device for an exterior mirror of a motor vehicle comprising a mirror base (18) and a mirror head, wherein by means of the folding device the mirror head is foldable and/or unfoldable relative to the mirror base (18), wherein the folding device comprises a carrier (1) connectable to one of the elements mirror head or mirror base (18) and comprises a motor (2) fastened to the carrier (1) with a motor shaft (3), wherein the folding device comprises a driven element (4) connectable to the other of the elements mirror base (18) or mirror head, wherein the driven element (4) is connected to the motor shaft (3) via a transmission, wherein the motor shaft (3) and the axis of the driven element (4) are parallel to each other and wherein the motor (2), driven element (4) and transmission are positioned relative to each other by a single component, namely the carrier (1), so that the center distances between motor shaft (3), axis of the driven element (4) and the axes of the transmission elements located therebetween are defined by the single component, namely the carrier (1), and an exterior mirror comprising such a folding device.
