A method of fabricating a baffle (74) for a gas turbine engine component includes providing a baffle (74) that has a baffle wall (76) that circumscribes an open interior region (78), the baffle wall (76) defining two datum features (84a, 84b), wherein at least one of the two datum features (84a, 84b) is semi-spherical, establishing a fixed reference position of the baffle (74) in a fixture (88) by engaging the two datum features (84a, 84b) with two corresponding locators (88a, 88b) on the fixture (88), and performing at least one operation on the baffle (74) that is dependent upon the reference position.
