"textContent": "An electrochromic device (100) includes a cell comprising a first transparent substrate (110) facing a viewer (S), a second substrate (130), an electrochromic material layer (150) disposed between two electrodes (120, 140), one on each substrate (110, 130), which drive the electrochromic material (150), a seal (160) disposed between the substrates (110, 130) and surrounding the electrochromic material layer (150), and a light-shielding pattern layer (170) that is is disposed on the first substrate (110). The light shielding pattern layer (170) is arranged to obscure the seal (160) and a small portion of the electrochromic material layer (150) near to it from view, thus improving the aesthetic appearence of the device (100). The electrodes (120, 140) on the substrates (110, 130) are not electrically connected to each other.",
