At least one blocking device (9) is provided that can be displaced between a basic position and a blocking position. When the blocking device (9) is in the blocking position, a displacement movement of the roof (2) into its closed position is prevented. The blocking device (9) is displaced from the basic position into the blocking position when an external force acting on the roof (2) is present that exceeds a specified limit value. A roof for a convertible vehicle is further proposed, wherein at least one delay device is provided.
