A gas turbine engine (20) includes a rotating shaft (102). An oil scoop (106) rotates with the rotating shaft (102). The oil scoop (106) has end walls (111) spaced axially along an axis of rotation of the rotating shaft (102) and an axially central recess (112). A duct (116) is spaced radially outwardly of the oil scoop (106). The duct (116) has an oil inlet (118), with an oil supply nozzle (110) to supply oil into the oil inlet (118) in the duct (116). The oil inlet (118) is then connected to supply oil into the recess (112). The oil scoop (106) has an inner hole (114) to allow oil to flow from the recess (112) to an outer periphery (97) of the shaft (102).
