A rail vehicle is provided that has a first current collector (1, 2), a second current collector (3, 4), and a contactor (6). The contactor (6) is electrically connected to the first current collector (1, 2) and the second current collector (3, 4) and is configured to interrupt a current flow between the first current collector (1, 2) and the second current collector (3, 4) when the current flow exceeds a first threshold value and/or when an increase in the current flow exceeds a second threshold value.
