  "textContent": "Rail vehicle preferred for use in automatic container sorting systems with centrally arranged intermediate storage locations (3) comprises a cargo-receiving wagon frame (12) that is supported without lifting any potential load, and thereafter the wheels (15) of the supported vehicle (5) are lifted off the rails (8) of the sorting track, and thereafter the vehicle moves using its own movement mechanisms (22) on the support wheels (19) that assume the support function onto the intermediate storage location (3), from which the vehicle (5) can be moved back onto the sorting track in reverse order. The vehicle (5) used in the method, with the cargo-receiving wagon frame (12), has at least two auxiliary frames (13) with at least one axle (14) with railway wheels (15) under the end regions of the vehicle (5) traveling on the rails (8), and additional wheels that enable lateral movement, wherein the wagon frame (12) is resiliently mounted on the auxiliary frames. The vehicle (5) has in the end regions of the auxiliary frames (13) at least one support frame with support wheels (19) that enable lateral movement and are therefore arranged to rotate freely in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (5), and the support wheels (19) as well as the wheels (15) of the vehicle (5) are connected with vertically acting lifting mechanisms (18, 20), wherein the lifting mechanisms (18, 20) are interconnected such that upon completion of lowering of one lifting mechanism (18, 20), the movement of the other lifting mechanism (18, 20) is triggered in the opposite direction and vice versa. The vehicle (5) has at least one pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically powered movement mechanism (22) that is mounted on the auxiliary frame (13) or the wagon frame (12) and thus the vehicle (5) can be moved on the support wheels (19) transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (5), wherein the movement mechanism (22) has at least one means that is designed such that it can be releasably connected to a site fixture that has been arranged next to the rails (8) and the intermediate storage (3) and thus enables temporary connection between the vehicle (5) and the site fixture.",
