The invention relates to a device for auxiliary release of pressure medium-operated brakes of a vehicle, comprising a brake pressure unit (1) which is controlled by an electronic brake control unit (2) and supplied by a first pressure source (3) for pressure medium actuation of at least one passive brake actuator (4a-4d) of the vehicle, wherein auxiliary release means for releasing the at least one passive brake actuator (4a-4d) in the event of failure of a service brake circuit are provided, wherein the auxiliary release means comprise an associated second pressure source (5) which can be directly connected to the service brake circuit via a switching valve (21), wherein the switching valve (21) is actuatable by a separate auxiliary release control (22).
