A tire (100, 200, 400, 500) comprises a pair of sidewalls (430, 520) constructed of a base rubber, a circumferential tread (120, 220, 420, 530) having a plurality of bars (130, 230, 440) and a plurality of valleys (240, 450) disposed between the plurality of bars (130, 230, 440), and a polymeric laminate (210, 310, 410) disposed on the tire (100, 200, 400, 500), such that the polymeric laminate (210, 410, 510) covers at least one of the pair of sidewalls (430, 520). The polymeric laminate (210, 410, 510) has a greater hardness than the base rubber, and the polymeric laminate (210, 410, 510) has a greater elongation at break than the base rubber.
