The present invention related to a rearview device (100) for a vehicle, comprising: a rearview device head (110); a rearview device base (114, 214) comprising a base frame (116); and a detent assembly (10, 201) which is configured to control rotation of the rearview device head (110) with respect to the rearview device base (114, 214), wherein said detent assembly (10, 201) is configured to lock and unlock rotation of said rearview device head (110) with respect to said rearview device base (114, 214) without vertical movement of said rearview device head (110) with respect to said rearview device base (114).
