Supercharged internal combustion engine (E) comprising a first group of cylinders controlled to be always active, and a second group of cylinders controlled to be active on request. The engine further comprises a first turbocompressor (TC1) connected so as to supercharge the first group of cylinders (Cl) and at least one second turbocompressor (TC2, TC3) connected so as to supercharge said second group of cylinders (Cl), wherein the first turbocompressor (TC1) comprises first bypass means (B3, WG1) to allow an exhaust gas produced by said first group of cylinders to bypass a relative first turbine (Tl) and wherein said bypass means are connected to a turbine (T2, T3) of said at least one second turbocompressor (TC2, TC3) to assist start-up of the at least one second turbocompressor (TC2, TC3).
