APPARATUS FOR ASSISTING BRAKING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREOF

Disclosed are an apparatus for assisting braking of an electric vehicle and a method thereof. The apparatus determines a motor braking amount based on the SOC of a battery when the SOC of the battery exceeds a reference SOC on a downhill road, and controls a motor control unit (MCU) to generate a motor reverse torque corresponding to the motor braking amount. Therefore, it is possible to assist the braking of a brake while preventing regenerative braking of the electric vehicle driving on a downhill road from being interrupted.
