Cylinder block and engine body

A cylinder block includes a bore wall having at least one cylinder bore, an outer wall located outside an outer periphery of the bore wall, and a water jacket defined between the outer periphery of the bore wall and an inner periphery of the outer wall. The cylinder block is an open-deck cylinder block in which a top end of the water jacket is opened. The outer periphery of the bore wall and the inner periphery of the outer wall have respective top edges at the top end of the water jacket. At least one of the outer periphery of the bore wall and the inner periphery of the outer wall has at least one recess at the corresponding top edge. The cylinder block includes at least one reinforcing member that is fitted in the at least one recess and covers part of the water jacket.
