The invention relates to a vehicle with a camera-based system for ensuring rear-view and/or side-view visibility, with at least one camera and with at least one display element on which the image captured by the camera can be displayed, wherein the display element is formed by at least one display that is transparent in the inactive state. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for displaying at least one camera image on a display installed in the vehicle.
