A system for managing addressing is provided, the system including a first subordinate device coupled to a communication bus, a first address line, and a second address line, the first subordinate device including a first switch coupled between the first address line and the second address line and configured to selectively connect the first address line to the second address line, a first alarm input configured to receive an alarm signal, and a second switch configured to establish an alarm voltage on the first address line.
