Longitudinal adjuster (1) for a vehicle seat (200) having a seat part (202) and a backrest (204), wherein the longitudinal adjuster (1) comprises a first seat rail (2) and a second seat rail (4), wherein the first seat rail (2) is displaceable relative to the second seat rail (4) in a longitudinal direction (x). Furthermore, a memory device associated with the first seat rail (2) and cooperating with the second seat rail (4) is provided, which is configured to store a seat longitudinal position of the vehicle seat (200), which position can be left and resumed by a longitudinal displacement of the vehicle seat (200). The memory device detects a relative movement between the first seat rail (2) and the second seat rail (4) by means of a friction wheel (18), which for this purpose contacts and traverses a contact surface (4a) that is moved relative to the memory device. The memory device furthermore releases at least one locking latch (90, 91) upon resumption of a stored seat longitudinal position in order to transfer the locking latch (90, 91) into a blocking position, which in a blocking position prevents displacement of the first seat rail (2) relative to the second seat rail (4) beyond the stored seat longitudinal position. A force flow from the locking latch (90, 91) in the blocking position occurs via an adapter plate (102) into the first seat rail (2).
