Provided is a lithium secondary battery including a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte solution, wherein the positive electrode comprises a positive current collector; and a positive electrode active material layer formed on at least one surface of the positive current collector, the positive electrode active material layer comprising a plurality of positive electrode active material particles, a first binder polymer and first copper oxide particles (CuxOy, where x and y are natural numbers).
