A battery management apparatus according to an embodiment disclosed herein includes an optical signal generation unit configured to generate an optical signal for performing optical communication with another battery management apparatus based on a preset operating voltage applied from outside, a driving unit including a plurality of resistor units, each of which includes a resistor and a switch electrically connected to the resistor, the plurality of resistor units being selectively connected to the optical signal generation unit, and a control unit configured to control an operation of the plurality of switches to control selective connection between the optical signal generation unit and the plurality of resistor units.
