BATTERY AND BATTERY SUBSTRING ASSEMBLIES FOR AN AIRCRAFT PROPULSION SYSTEM

A propulsion system for an aircraft includes a battery and a battery sensor assembly. The battery includes a plurality of battery strings. A first battery string of the plurality of battery strings includes a plurality of substring assemblies. Each of the substring assemblies includes a battery substring, a first substring contactor, and a first substring controller. The battery substring includes a plurality of battery cells electrically connected together. The first substring contactor is electrically connected with the battery substring. The first substring contactor is positionable in a closed state or an open state. The first substring controller is configured to control a position of the first substring contactor in the closed state or the open state. The battery sensor assembly includes a cell temperature sensor for each of the plurality of battery cells. The cell temperature sensor is connected in signal communication with the first substring controller.
