A lead acid storage battery having a positive electrode , a negative electrode , a separator , and a porous membrane , in which the separator and the porous membrane contain a glass fiber and are disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode , the porous membrane is disposed in at least one of a position between the positive electrode and the separator and a position between the negative electrode and the separator , and a void ratio of the porous membrane as obtained by X-ray CT measurement is 18.0% or more.
