The invention relates to a fuel injector (10), in particular a common rail injector, with an injector housing (11) in which a high-pressure chamber (15) is formed, which can be supplied with pressurized fuel via a supply bore (19) arranged in the injector housing (11), with at least one injection opening (12) formed in the injector housing (11) and connected at least indirectly to the high-pressure chamber (15) for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, with an injection member (16) that releases or closes the at least one injection opening (12), and with a measuring device (30; 30a to 30d) for at least indirectly detecting the pressure in the high-pressure chamber (15) or the supply bore (19), wherein the measuring device (30; 30a to 30f) is designed to detect an elastic deformation of a deformation region (27) of the injector housing (11) arranged in operative connection at least indirectly with the supply bore (19) or the high-pressure chamber (15), wherein the measuring device (30; 30a to 30f) has a sensor element (32; 32a to 32f) which is arranged in contact with the surface of the deformation region (27), wherein the sensor element (32; 32a to 32f) is electrically contacted via contact elements (52, 53), wherein the measuring device (30; 30a to 30f) is partly accommodated in a housing (50) connected to the injector housing (11).
