METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT THE SURROUNDINGS OF A CROSSING

The present invention relates to a method for providing information in a vehicle (1) regarding a traffic situation in the vicinity of an intersection (25) with at least one traffic light signal system (6), to which multiple driving lanes (8) lead, in which first data regarding switching times of the traffic light signal system (6) are determined by the vehicle (1), second data regarding the traffic situation on the driving lanes (8) in the vicinity of the intersection (25) are determined by the vehicle (1), graphic data are generated as a function of the determined first and second data and are displayed in the vehicle (1), which represent the length of a traffic jam in front of the traffic light signal system (6) in the driving direction of the vehicle (1) separately for the driving lanes (8) and the current status of the traffic light signal system (6) for the driving lanes (8). Furthermore, the invention relates to a system for providing such information, which in particular is able to execute this method.
