METHOD FOR REDUCING THE FUEL CONSUMPTION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

The invention relates to a method for reducing fuel consumption of a motor vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine, wherein the motor vehicle has a fuel tank for storing fuel and a device for detecting the quantity of fuel contained in the fuel tank, wherein the following steps are carried out: ª detecting the remaining quantity of fuel in the fuel tank, ª comparing it with a preset minimum quantity for fuel in the fuel tank, ª outputting a message to signal that the minimum fuel quantity in the fuel tank has been fallen below, and ª manual and/or automatic activation of a fuel-saving mode when the preset minimum quantity in the fuel tank is undercut.
