A lighting device (10) for a vehicle comprises: a semiconductor light emitting section (13); a projection lens (22) for projecting light, which has been emitted from the semiconductor lighting section (13), in a predetermined light distribution pattern; a heat sink member (11) having the semiconductor light emitting section (13) mounted thereto; and a plate member (21) provided between the projection lens (22) and the heat sink member (11) and having lower heat conductivity than the heat sink member (11). The projection lens (22) is a resin lens. At least a part of a surface of the plate member (21), the surface facing the projection lens (22), is a lens-side diffusion surface (21h).
