The object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle door with a window opening that can be closed by a sliding window pane, which is of simple design and weight-reduced and in which in particular a movement of components outside the outer skin of the vehicle is avoided. To this end, it is provided according to the invention that the guide rails are designed such that the sliding window pane is moved translationally in the direction from the vehicle interior towards the vehicle exterior during the closing movement.",
